Hello to you all and we are now halfway through our 2010 season with much success both on field and off. Our players are developing in all areas and I am hearing very positive feedback from parents and outside supporters who have observed our boys in action. For those of you who are struggling to get wins on the board, take heart as you are not alone and most of us have been there at some stage. Believe me when I say it can still be a positive thing as skills are honed, game sense develops and a stronger mental attitude results.
Grants:
We have been very fortunate to have some grant monies come our way in the form of the following:
A volunteer grant from FAHSCIA for a new white board and a projector for in house training. ($1649.00)
A scoop stretcher from Vital Medical Supplies. ($1000.00)
A Volunteer grant from FAHSCIA for petrol ($1000)
(any one who undertakes duties for the club may claim reimbursement)
we are still awaiting the outcomes for Grants from Woolworths and Telstra.
Goal Posts
As you are all aware the club has suffered at the hands of some local vandals during recent weeks by having all four goal posts at the clubroom end damaged to the point that we had to replace them. (we also suffered a smashed window) This has been achieved with some generous suppport from John Mortimore (you may have seen him at Millers on the Sunday following the damage), our local member in Knox. For those who are interested, the new posts are made from light weight aluminium and will now be installed / removed each week to circumvent any further attacks.
Fundraising
Directly resulting from these measures, it has now become a priority to build suitable storage for the posts. We are investigating
a timekeepers box/scoreboard being built ASAP rather than awaiting a grant from the council (outcome to be advised in August). Storing the posts in the changerooms has proven too great a temptation for little feet and we also have to consider the cricket club when they take over at the end of September. Whilst I have been busy liaising with the various departments within Council to get this moving, all monies raised this year will have to be diverted to this project. So please support the chocolate drive, Trivia night and also the Major raffle we are running in conjunction with the Senior Club.
Lightning Premiership
The lightning premiership was well attended by parents and players and a big thank you is extended from me to each and everyone of you for your support, willingness to help out on the day and your exceptional behaviour. You are all what makes our club so unique and family friendly. |
